About Me
My name is Greg Gearlds and I am passionate about helping others find their way to meaningful, purposeful
work. God did not create us to be miserable. He gave us gifts and skills and talents to use. I truly
believe that all of us can have a job or a career that we love. I believe that it is possible for all of us to move
beyond the days of hating work, dreading Mondays and living for the weekend to a place where we can be
successful, fulfilled and happy.
I know what it is like to be miserable at work.
I spent almost twenty years of my life dreading work, hating Mondays and just wishing I could do something
else. I know a lot of other people that still live that way. They simply go to work because it is a paycheck, or
because it is a job that their mother or father held so they think they should be doing it as well. That is not
the way it is supposed to be.
I started working in IT within corporate America in 1988 and was ready to get out of it by 1992.
Unfortunately, it came easy to me. It was unfortunate because that meant nothing was going to force me out;
I just stayed around because I kept getting promotions, more money and things were good….enough. I still
wished I was doing something else. I didn’t know what but I knew that I wanted something more.
Well, what I finally realized was that God does have a plan for my life and that I needed to pay attention to
what that was. Actually, not only did I need to but I wanted to. I wanted to because I had learned that to be
really successful, to be really happy in life; my job had to mean something. I spend forty or fifty hours a week
at work. If I am not getting anything out of it besides a paycheck, then I am not going to be satisfied. I will
always be wishing for something else.
Well, through working with a coach and going through the 48 Days to The Work You Love program, I have
put a plan together for my life, not just my job but my life, that is already leading me into a more meaningful
and satisfied work life.
This change has not only been a positive impact on me but on my wife and children as well. When your work
life reaches into and negatively affects other areas of your life, it is time to stand up and take action.
